Do not just accept a lengthy license suspension. You have the right to request a hearing to challenge it. Contact Bentley & Ridgway today to learn more about your rights.
Driver's License Suspension
After your driver's license has been suspended, it will automatically be reinstated after the statutory summary suspension period has ended. You will need to pay a reinstatement fee and ensure that you meet a few other administrative qualifications. I strive to help clients get through the reinstatement process as quickly as possible to get them back on the road right after their suspension is complete.
Revocation and Secretary of State Hearings
If your driver's license was revoked, most likely due to a conviction on a DUI charge or multiple serious driving offenses, there is no automatic reinstatement of your license. Instead, your license can only reinstated after a formal hearing with the Illinois Secretary of State's office.
Many individuals who attempt to represent themselves in a Secretary of State hearing are denied the reinstatement of their license. With representation from an experienced attorney, an individual's chances of regaining his or her license go up. I strive to aggressively defend my clients' rights throughout the course of the hearing and in dealing with the reinstatement of their license. Let me help you regain your driving privileges so you can move on with your life.
To have your license reinstated, you have to meet certain requirements, including:
- Providing proof that you have successfully completed the required alcohol treatment program
- Show and declare that you will be a safe and responsible Illinois driver without being a danger to public safety
- Describe your history with alcohol and drinking, to be consistent with everything you discussed with your alcohol evaluator during the course of your treatment program
- Answer over 100 questions with a satisfactory and true answer
I can help you prepare for a Secretary of State hearing so that you know what to expect.
